Cultural life in Toronto never stops moving. The metropolis is dynamic, rich in diversity, and home to some of the best museums in the country. Here are our favorites.

ROYAL ONTARIO MUSEUM (ROM)

Founded in 1914, the ROM has an impressive collection of more than 13 million works of art, which can be admired in more than forty different galleries. Don’t miss: Great Whales: Up Close and Personal

AGA KHAN MUSEUM

The largest museum dedicated to Islamic art and culture outside of a Muslim nation, the Aga Khan Museum is absolutely grandiose; the building’s modern architecture is worth admiring on its own. Don’t miss: the museum’s magnificent gardens.

THE BATA SHOE MUSEUM

The world's largest shoe museum, the Bata Shoe Museum was originally built to house Sonja Bata's impressive shoe collection. It now has a permanent collection of over 13,000 items.

THE HOCKEY HALL OF FAME

Whether you're a hockey fan or not, the Hockey Hall of Fame is a fascinating place to discover. It's a huge venue that brings together thousands of collectible items and memorabilia linked to the NHL’s greatest players and moments.

THE ART GALLERY OF ONTARIO

One of the city's most photographed buildings, the Art Gallery of Ontario has a collection of more than 100,000 works of art, both classic and contemporary.

Each of these cultural destinations is an outing in itself. We suggest that you plan several hours per institution so that you have enough time to take everything in.

Enjoy your visit!
